CHARITIES FAQ
Wot’s all this, then?
I recently set up a little shop to sell some of my stuff, which I’ve put-off for years, until recently.
As an artist who mostly creates content for digital screens, I wanted to step back to analog-mode; make something real and tangible you can hold in your hands, experience the joy of unwrapping, or handing-off as a gift to someone - an experience artificial means can never replace.
Things are also a bit upside-down (and scary) in the world right now, and I wanted to be productive and contribute to local organizations, in addition to supporting my own mental health.
Which charities will donations be going to?
Charity list may be rotated or expanded in the future:
YouthLine.ca: launched in 1994, YouthLine offers free support for 2SLGBTQ+ youth across Ontario through their confidential help line. With the goal of alleviating isolation and misinformation, trained peer volunteers provide support, affirmation, and advocacy.
Al & Malka Green Artists’ Health Centre: the only clinic of its kind in Canada, where subsidized health services are available to professionals, students, and educators in the arts community (care that otherwise would not be accessible without financial assistance.) Treatments include mental health support, naturopathic medicine, and others.
ACORN Canada: is a community organization that advocates for low/moderate income families by working to protect and push legislation for affordable housing, tenant rights, disability rights, and more.
How much are you giving away?
Unless otherwise specified, at least 50% of sales from the store (after processing fees taken by Ko-fi and PayPal) will be donated.
My mark-ups are low (to keep my products affordable/accessible) and any minimal funds I keep will be used to cover production costs, packaging materials, and website hosting fees.
A minimum price is suggested per item, but buyers are welcome to contribute more if they wish ❤❤❤
(If - for whatever personal reason - you do not wish to contribute to the charities I’ve chosen or disagree with my motives, kindly refrain from purchasing from the store.)
Thank you for reading, and supporting small artists!
