Hello! (Who are you again?)
I’m Elaine Hsu, and I’m an Art Director, Illustrator, and Graphic Designer based in Toronto. I have over two decades of experience working in the film, television, music and children’s entertainment.
I am currently an Art Director of a digital games team at a toy company, where I get to hang out with cute kids and draw cartoons all day ❤
Are you available for freelance work/private commissions?
No, but drop me a note and say hello in any case.
Can I buy some of your art?
If you see other pages (not linked directly from this site) featuring my art or similar merch, it is fakery/thievery and I’d kindly appreciate you snitching on them.
Are you on any other social media?
I mostly use this Instagram and a Ko-fi site to host my store; any other platforms that appears to be me are either 1) dupes and fakers, or 2) me accidentally forgetting I even made that account.
(What’s with the Jawas?)
I have a tiny Jawa plush with light-up eyes (thanks Burger King) from 2005 and it’s one of my favourite things. (They’re also really easy to draw.)
So! Do you like… stuff?
I love vintage children’s books, cartoons and toys. I’m a sucker for mid-century modern design and anything orange or turquoise coloured. I grew up adoring Mary Blair, Charles Schultz, Chuck Jones cartoons, 8-bit Nintendo, and daydreamed of working for MAD Magazine. I speak fluent Simpsons, and I’m apparently known for liking the band Sloan. As I kid, I wanted to be Shortround from Temple of Doom when I grew up. (I’m still hoping for that.)
