Hello! (Who are you again?)
I’m Elaine Hsu, and I’m an Art Director, Illustrator, and Graphic Designer based in Toronto. I have over two decades of experience (I’m old!) working in the film, television, music and children’s entertainment.
I am currently an Art Director within a digital games division at a toy company, where I get to hang out with cute kids and draw cartoons all day.
Are you available for freelance work?
No, but drop me a note and say hello in any case.
Can I buy some of your art?
If you see other pages (not linked directly from this site) featuring my art or similar merch, it is fakery and thievery and I would kindly appreciate you snitching on them.
Are you on any other social media?
I mostly use this Instagram; any other platforms that appears to be me are either 1) dupes and fakers, or 2) me accidentally forgetting I even made that account.
The best way to stay in touch is to join my mailing list where I will send you updates the old-timey way (email.)
So! Do you like… stuff?
I love vintage children’s books, cartoons and toys. I’m a sucker for mid-century modern design and anything orange or turquoise coloured. I grew up adoring Mary Blair, Charles Schultz, Chuck Jones cartoons, 8-bit Nintendo, and daydreamed of working for MAD Magazine. I speak fluent Simpsons, and I’m apparently known for liking the band Sloan. As I kid, I wanted to be Shortround from Temple of Doom when I grew up. (I’m still hoping for that.)
